In SquareSpace, you might want to upload files to use in CSS (images, fonts) and for users to download (pdfs). In first case we will use Custom CSS to upload, for user files we’ll use WebsiteNew Page → Custom Link method.

⚠️ In trial mode links to files uploaded through Website panel will not work 😢.

For managing media library, see this tutorial (coming soon). Also — learn how to easily navigate Squarespace admin pages.

Go to Website. Click + near not linked heading and and add link.

By default, link to your file will be /s/FILENAME, in our case it is /s/test.pdf. Unfortunately it’s not possible to find a real link within this window, so let’s briefly move our link to the main nav and copy the link .

Once uploaded, place the caret on the line you need or on the new line if you just need the path. Click on the image — it will paste the image url in the editor.

.svg

SVG is a great format, especially for icons (or logos), but Custom CSS panel doesn’t support uploading svg. So use Add Link method for uploading svg.

⚠️ unfortunately, svg links will not work in trial mode. Consider base64 svg files to use in CSS on trial mode if needed (tutorial coming soon).

Fonts

Fonts can be uploaded in Custom CSS tab, same as images. You will normally need two files — .woff & .woff2 to use for fonts. Use same method as you use for images.

Once uploaded, place the caret on the line you need or on the new line if you just need the path.

Click on the image to paste the image url in the editor.
